Personally, It seems like the hunger for power and influence these days, has taken a hard turn into the 7 deadly sins. “. … (1) vainglory, or pride, (2) greed, or covetousness, (3) lust, or inordinate or illicit sexual desire, (4) envy, (5) gluttony, which is usually understood to include drunkenness, (6) wrath, or anger, and (7) sloth.” (Encyclopedia Britannica)
The intoxication of each perceived gain drives the need for more of everything. “Power corrupts” looks like it is alive and well in our politics.
I could say that “both sides” are engaged in “necessary politics”. Conviction in the public arena is likely to cheat justice. That may not cover the politics between every talking head with a little info. It is easy to see, that today, “both” sides seems to have a lot more sides than you can easily see. Perhaps media sources are closer to being “gems”. The stories seem more like a “hide and seek” game with truth and facts. I believe that more openness with all of the charges, the search warrant parameters and a full record of the search, will give all concerned a basis to come to a preliminary understanding. Who is right? Who is wrong? What are the valid charges? What are the valid defenses? If there is no valid truth or defense, display it, and let everyone know what brought us to this point. If politics is the reason, that needs to be on display for all to see.
