Some people were incensed when the CNN reporter was standing in front of a burning city telling his listeners that the protests were “mostly peaceful”. If it was an insurrection on Jan 6th it was less violent than the riots across the nation. The main tenet of an insurrection is to take over a governmental property, their political control / responsibilities by unruly people defying laws or authorities. I certainly disagree with the unruly few who destroyed property in the Capitol and on it’s grounds. Since for a short time they “took over” offices and official areas. I find no excuse for their behavior. The primary group who walked around protesting: 1.) did not appear to be defying or defiling any property or law with the possible exception of having their protest without a permit.
They did exactly as they were asked to do by Trump, walking peacefully, patriotically and respectfully around the Capitol to show their
2.) There were some protesters allowed inside by Capitol police and did no damage. They should be on solid ground, but I am no legal scholar.
