Well, if she had terminal cancer, her family wouldn't be in 'shock' by her death and wouldn't be saying "we don't know what happened". It almost sounds as though she was found dead, or something like that, and they are waiting on autopsy results for COD.
Cancer deaths typically aren't unexpected and sudden if you are aware of your cancer.
