Lake trailed early only because the early ballots which had already been processed were first reported in Maricopa County, which includes Phoenix; Phoenix is the only area in Arizona that is Democrats/blue so it was expected that early ballots would go against Lake. As the more rural areas of Arizona came in, as well as the in-person voting results in Maricopa, Lake caught up which was also expected at the places I was watching.
