The problem with today’s cars is that they are too complicated. Overhead-cam four-valve variable timing direct-injection turbocharged ten-speed dual-clutch electronic aluminum disasters. You can’t build a thing like that at a reasonable price, and you can’t mass-produce it at all and have any kind of reliability and longevity. All chasing after a government-mandated imaginary extra 0.1 mpg. The government is legislating the automobile out of existence, and that is no accident. They know exactly what they are doing. Where does the Constitution mention automobiles? A utility small car or truck should have a simple normally-aspirated fuel-injected 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine that gets reasonable gas mileage. Like they built them 25 years ago! One thing that is inexcusable is the electronics mess. With all the progress in electronics over the years, everything on an automobile should be controlled by a single module that costs $20 and can be replaced in under a minute by the owner.
Ford had 88,000 workers. They laid off 3,000. Very small percentage. I’ll bet you a lot of money, Scotty, that Ford is NOT going bust.
