CNN host Don Lemon had an awkward moment with a guest this week after asking whether the UK monarchy should pay reparations for slavery, Sky News Digital Editor Jack Houghton says. British royal commentator Hilary Fordwich acknowledged the want for reparations but suggested the burden of those payments should fall to those at the “beginning of the supply chain”. The CNN anchor replied “it’s an interesting discussion” – before abruptly ending the interview. “It sure is interesting – and what Lemon probably only just realised – incredibly complicated,” Mr Houghton said.

It’s a pity that she didn’t also mention that Great Britain took out such a huge debt to end slavery that it wasn’t paid off until 2014. Meaning that nobody in the world has done more to end slavery than the British people including British people alive today including myself.
