Congratulations California on becoming the world’s largest outdoor camping industry leader.

We’ve already seen what happened a few years back, when Seattle and a couple other cities mandated a $15/hour minimum wage inside their city limits – the fast food restaurants either closed down, or became essentially self-serve kiosks with only one or two personnel in the back preparing the food – other types of businesses either shut down, significantly reduced the number of employees, or moved outside the city limits – rent and the prices of other services went up, pricing the working poor that lived inside the city into having to move somewhere else or become homeless – and instead of helping the working poor inside the city earn more, people from outside the city came in and snatched up these entry level jobs that suddenly guaranteed them $15/hour. IMO, that’s one of the factors that has lead to the student loan dilemma – the entry level jobs that used to exist 50 years ago, that teenagers could work after school or during the summer, to save money for further education or get a start in life, aren’t available to them any longer – these jobs now pay so much, they have to compete with adults who consider such jobs as easy money.
