As Zelensky insists that Ukraine can win the war, the media admits that Ukraine is all out of young men and the average age of a Ukrainian soldier is 43! Now the Washington Post is throwing Ukraine under the bus with an “investigation” showing that a rogue ops unit sabotaged the Nord Stream Pipeline. This story is…hard to believe.
In the face of a grueling war, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky consistently maintains that his country can emerge victorious. However, the reality on the ground appears starkly different from these confident proclamations. The media acknowledges that Ukraine is running out of young men to fight in its army, and a recent Washington Post investigation sheds light on a controversial incident involving a rogue Ukrainian ops unit sabotaging the Nord Stream Pipeline. Together, these developments paint a more complex picture of the war and its potential outcomes.
As the conflict escalates, Ukraine faces an increasingly challenging issue in maintaining a capable fighting force. According to recent media reports, the average age of a Ukrainian soldier is now 43, with younger men being drafted or volunteering at rates well below expectations. This demographic reality calls into question whether Ukraine can sustain its military efforts and eventually secure a decisive victory over Russia.

I offer this opinion as an ex soldier with special operations experience. The level of planning and sophistication required to accurately locate and destroy the pipeline without being seen is extremely high. Setting aside the enormous intelligence operations required, the physical act could only be done by the most advanced specialists in the British SBS and American Navy Seals, along with most likely American submarines, which deploy the dive teams and or robots etc. Also the munitions/ explosive knowledge and material is highly specialized and secretive, especially as it seems the explosive was detonated remotely or after some considerable time had passed. The Ukraine military does not have this knowledge nor capability, nor would NATO, who monitor these waters relentlessly, allow such a simplistic attempt as it would be detected. This Ukrainian blame game is ludicrous.
All Zelensky had to do, like he promised during his campaign, was free the people of Donetsk and Luhansk, who unanimously voted for and declared independence back in 2014.
